Observing UN Road Safety Week, May 2023

Empowering Tomorrow's Drivers:

Drive Safe Alliance SL Champions Road Safety Education at Christ the King College, Bo, Sierra Leone

In an earnest effort to cultivate a culture of safety on the roads, Drive Safe Alliance SL took centre stage at various schools. They visited Christ the King College, Holy Rosary Primary School and UBC Primary School in Bo, Sierra Leone, during the global UN Road Safety Week 2023 led by Ms Massah Bomah, CEO of Drive Safe Alliance SL. It was a very appropriate platform to educate and inspire young minds about the importance of keeping safe on the roads. With volunteers joining in to amplify the message, the session proved to be an enlightening experience for both students and teachers alike.

Educating the Next Generation:

Under the theme of Road Safety Education, an interactive session was designed to engage the students. Drive Safe Alliance SL captured the attention of the young audience, fostering an environment ripe for learning.

The session addressed various facets of road safety. From understanding traffic signals to practising pedestrian safety, students engaged in discussions guided by volunteers to simulate road scenarios, imparting invaluable knowledge while fostering a sense of responsibility when on the roads.

Drawing from personal experiences and real-world examples, DSA SL volunteers captivated the student’s attention, driving home a collective commitment to make road safety a priority to both teachers and students.

Teacher Empowerment:

Recognising the pivotal role teachers play in shaping young minds, Drive Safe Alliance invited teachers to emphasise the need for road safety during assembly time. The appreciation from teachers underscored their dedication to nurturing responsible citizens equipped to navigate the roads safely.

As the session drew to a close, both students and teachers felt equipped with newfound knowledge and a heightened sense of awareness regarding road safety. The impact of Drive Safe Alliance SL's initiative extended beyond the confines of the visit, laying the groundwork for a safer, more conscientious school.

Conclusion:

The road to fostering a safer tomorrow begins with education and awareness today. Drive Safe Alliance SL's initiative stands as a testament to the transformative power of education in shaping attitudes and behaviours towards road safety. As we reflect on the success of this endeavour, let us reaffirm our commitment to championing safety on the roads, one community at a time. Together, we can pave the way for a future where every journey is a safe one.
